Internships

Our internship programme enables technical students and graduates to embark on a career in technical communication. You can apply the theoretical knowledge gained during your studies to learn and master the requirements of everyday professional life with support and guidance from our experienced staff.

Each internship module lasts at least three months. We also give students the opportunity to write their final paper at DSC.

You can choose from the following modules to suit your professional goals:

Terminology internship

During the terminology internship, you learn how to use terminology databases and assist our terminologists in building and maintaining specialist terminologies.

Translation internship

Working in our team of specialist translators, you will be introduced to the requirements of technical translation. You acquire a good command of the main translation memory systems and you can also attend one of our recognised certificated courses.

Publishing internship

Before and after translation, documents in various file formats must be prepared, converted and made ready for publication. Here you learn more about working with the various publishing programs, such as Adobe InDesign or QuarkXPress, and the options available for preparing data for use by translation memory systems. You encounter issues regarding international typography and become better skilled at generating documents.

Project internship

During the project internship, you assist our project managers in planning and running translation projects. You become acquainted with the methods and tools used to calculate costs and prepare files. You are also involved in the preparation and running of the projects as well as the quality assurance processes.

IT internship

An internship in our IT department gives you an insight into various fields of computer science. You have the opportunity to create small program tools with our software developers or form part of the team developing our project management software. You can also gain experience in network administration or provide solutions to our staff’s hardware and software problems.
